“” Yesterday, the My Catch Australia team proudly partnered with City of Gold Coast, Naturally GC, and Councillor Dan Doran and with the help of the lovely local community released another 36,000 Australian Bass fingerlings into West Lake, South Lake, and Beauty Point Drive.
These fingerlings, measuring just 2–4 cm, will take approximately two years to reach healthy adult size. As they mature, they will play a vital role in restoring ecological balance by naturally preying on small tilapia and carp.
This release is a significant step in supporting the long term health of our local waterways and strengthening native fish populations. 🌿🐟

Thank you to all partners and community members for supporting sustainable, science driven restoration efforts “”

Event Summary:
Despite the last-minute challenges posed by the predicted severe weather, we were delighted to see 76 individual participants and 14 teams successfully weigh-in.
This year, we saw a noticeable increase in carp weigh-ins, and together we removed an incredible 571 kilograms of pest fish from our waterways bringing the total to just over 5000kg of biomass removed from our waterways.
This is an outstanding community achievement and a testament to the dedication of everyone involved.

Australian Bass Release:
In addition to the Classic, the My Catch Australia team proudly partnered with the City of Gold Coast, Naturally GC, and Councillor Dan Doran to release 36,000 Australian Bass fingerlings into West Lake, South Lake, and Beauty Point Drive
bringing the total too over 251,000.

Congratulations to all winners who participated in the @Gold Coast Pest Fishing Classic 2025! πŸŽŠπŸ‘πŸ₯‚
